Luas Drivers Announce Another Four Days Of Strike Action

Ellen Tannam

The dispute between Luas parent company Transdev and their drivers has resulted in another four days of industrial action in April.

RTÉ News report that the drivers will strike again on April 2nd, 3rd, 23rd and 24th, with strikes already scheduled to go ahead on St Patrick’s Day, and Easter Sunday and Monday.

Trade union SIPTU say the drivers were left with no alternative but to add more dates to their strike, while Transdev’s MD Gerry Madden said: “The public, Luas customers and business are the real losers here.”

Three out of four of the grades in the company are willing to enter negotiations with Transdev, but the drivers are still sticking to their guns regarding their desire for a pay increase.
