Luas Red Line won’t be running to the city centre this weekend

The Luas Red Line won’t be running to the city centre this weekend.

Maintenence will be carried out on the line from last tram on Friday August 3 to Monday morning August 6. Services will only be running on the Red Line between Saggart/Tallaght and Blackhorse.

Luas has ensured customers that a bus service will run between Blackhorse and The Point/Connolly every 15 minutes.

This bus will serve all stops on the line. A valid Luas ticket is needed to avail of this replacement service.

The closure is due to essential engineering works needed on the Red Line close to St James’s stop. Luas tracks are being replaced and the work will take 48 hours to complete.

A statement on the Luas website reads:

“This work is safety critical and mostly takes place at night when trams are not running.

“Works can be noisy and affect people whose homes are near the tracks as it involves the use of on-track machines and power tools.”

Luas hope to have a full service running again by first tram bank holiday Monday morning.
