The closure is due to essential engineering works needed on the Red Line close to St James’s stop. Luas tracks are being replaced and the work will take 48 hours to complete.
A statement on the Luas website reads:
"This work is safety critical and mostly takes place at night when trams are not running. "Works can be noisy and affect people whose homes are near the tracks as it involves the use of on-track machines and power tools."Luas hope to have a full service running again by first tram bank holiday Monday morning.
