More unravels.

Madeleine McCann main suspect Christian Brueckner has agreed to be examined by police in hopes of escaping a rape charge.

German prosecutors now suspect the man of the rape of Irish tour rep Hazel Behan in a Portuguese holiday resort in 2004.

They have handed over a file of evidence on the Brueckner’s lawyer, Friedrich Fuelscher, and it reportedly has a statement that Behan gave to police saying that her attacker had a large cross-shaped scar on his right thigh.

According to the German newspaper Bild, Brueckner claims that he has no scars on his thighs and has given permission for them to be examined.

Fuelscher says prosecutors will need to clear him as a suspect and that there is no way he could be the attacker.

He told Bild: “Should it be true that Mr Brueckner does not have this feature, he would have to be ruled out as the perpetrator.”

Brueckner is the prime suspect in Maddie’s disappearance from her parents’ holiday apartment in 2007 in Portugal.

The suspect was said to be living in a camper van close to Praia da Luz when Maddie disappeared as her parents ate dinner in a tapa restaurant nearby.

The 45 year old is currently serving a seven-year sentence in a German prison for raping a pensioner in Praia da Luz but has denied any involvement in Madeleine’s disappearance.

He is also currently a suspect in two indecent exposure cases in Portugal involving children.

Last month, investigators dealing with the search for Madeleine McCann claimed that there has been a huge development in the case as it marked the 15th anniversary.

A member of the team claimed that they found new evidence in a camper van that belonged to prime suspect, Christian B.

Speaking again, Hans-Christian Wolter said: “We have found new facts and new evidence.

“It’s not forensic evidence but evidence and because of our evidence, we are sure he is the murderer of Madeleine McCann.

“We are sure he killed Madeleine.”
