Six people rushed to hospital after major collision in Dublin city centre

The incident occurred at approximately 6pm on Tuesday evening.

Six people have been rushed to hospital as a result of a major road collision in Dublin city centre on Tuesday evening.

Dublin Fire Brigade reported that five people were removed to hospital as a result of the collision, which occurred at the junction of Adelaide Road and Earlsfort Terrace.

In a statement regarding the incident, An Garda Síochána updated the figure to six.

Five ambulances and fire engines from Donnybrook, Tara Street and Dolphin’s Barn attended the scene and motorists are being urged to avoid the area.

AA Roadwatch have advised that there is no access to Adelaide Road from Earlsfort Terrace and that the incident is likely to lead to traffic delays in the city on Tuesday evening.

An Garda Síochana released a statement on Tuesday evening, which read: “Gardaí from Pearse St and other emergency services are currently at the scene of a serious road traffic collision at the junction of Harcourt Rd and Adelaide Rd in Dublin. The collision occurred at approximately 6.16pm this evening.

It appears from initial investigations that a number of pedestrians were struck by a car. Six people have been taken to hospital (gender unknown).

This is not a hit & run incident.
