The incident happened yesterday.

A man has been arrested and brought in for questioning in West Cork in connection with an incident where a woman was threatened at knifepoint while out walking her dogs.

The Irish Times reports the 45 year old is currently in Gardaí custody as he threatened the woman believed to be in her 50s.

The incident occurred in the Square in Skibbereen at around 4pm yesterday when a small dog and a man approached two larger dogs as they were walked by their owner.

The man then allegedly became abusive and threatened the woman with a knife. It is believed that the dog had been injured in a fight that broke out with the other dogs.

The woman was left uninjured but shaken.

Locals who witnessed the incident called the Gardaí who then arrested the man and brought him to Clonakilty. He was then detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
