A man has been arrested in Dublin after a woman in her 70s was assaulted at her property in the city last night.
The man arrested is also in his 70s, and was taken in by Gardaí after she was assaulted in her Dublin 8 home.
He was arrested shortly after 7.30pm on Monday evening on Ava Maria Road.
The woman was then treated for her injuries at the scene.
The man arrested was brought to Kevin Street Garda Station and is currently being detained there under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
Gardaí have also said that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
