A man from Queens confessed to dialling 911 and falsely reporting that his ex-wife was a terrorist, participating in a plot and was travelling under a fake visa.
Jacob Thomas made two separate emergency calls on July 5th where he claimed his ex-wife Shakeela Saraswathi was involved in terrorism activity.
Thomas later confessed that his claims about Saraswathi were completely false, but only after his ex-wife was stopped for questioning by FBI agents after disembarking from her Qatar Airways flight.
According to reports from the New York Post, authorities searched and questioned the woman but found no evidence of terrorist activity or dangerous intent.
Thomas later apologised to federal agents for wasting their time, admitting he should not have used the term ‘terrorism’, the complaint states.
He was freed on a $50,000 bond, co-signed by his current wife and son.
The Brooklyn court has ordered that Thomas now attend mental health treatment as a condition of his release.
