A 26-year-old man has been charged in connection with the murder of 90-year-old Paddy Lyons.

According to RTÉ, he is due to appear in Dungarvan District Court this morning.

Paddy, from Ballysaggart, just outside Lismore, Co. Waterford, was found dead at his home on Saturday. He was last seen alive on Friday and the alarm was raised after a couple found his body on Saturday evening when they called to his home.

The Gardaí had initially asked the couple to come forward for questioning but they were ruled out after being interviewed.
