A man has confessed to the murder of social media influencer and model Ekaterina Karaglanova after she “insulted” him.

Maxim Gareyev said that he killed the 24-year-old in her apartment in June by allegedly stabbing her “at least five times with a knife in the neck and chest.”

Her body was discovered inside a suitcase by her landlord last Saturday after her parents became concerned that they could not contact her.

Sky News reports that a video released by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation shows Gareyev confessing to the crime, which he said he regrets.

“She repeatedly insulted me, humiliated my sexual dignity,” he said.

“I could not stand it. I stabbed her at least five times with a knife in her neck and chest. I regret it. I will cooperate with the investigation.”

The context of the confession, or whether the suspect had a lawyer present, are not yet known.

Karaglanova – who has 80,000 followers on Instagram and recently qualified as a doctor – had been planning to take a trip to The Netherlands to celebrate her birthday.

She had also entered into a new relationship.
