The Irish Times, while driving on the Mallow-Killarney road in Cork, the man's vehicle, a Toyota Corolla crashed into a Bus Éireann bus.
The collision occurred roughly 4km from Mallow in Cork at 6.15pm on Saturday.
It's said the driver was from Lismire in Co. Cork. The driver of the bus was rushed to Cork University Hospital but sadly, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
No other drivers were harmed in the collision, however three commuters on the bus were injured and it's thought all witnesses to the incident were left in a state of shock after the incident.
An Garda Síochána are appealing for any witnesses to the incident and should anyone want to come forward with information, it's advised to get in touch with Mallow Garda Station.
