Sarah McKenna Barry

The incident took place yesterday afternoon.

A man in his 40s has died following an assault at a house in the Blanchardstown area of Dublin, the Irish Times reports.

The incident took place yesterday at 4pm in Ashfield Park and a large Garda presence attended the location, as well as the armed support unit and a Garda helicopter.

It has been reported that the man suffered stab wounds. He was subsequently taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Two others – a man and a woman, both in their 20s – were injured in the same incident, and taken to the Mater hospital for treatment.

The scene has since been preserved as a technical examination will take place. Gardaí are not currently looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.

They have, however, appealed for any road users who were in the area yesterday afternoon and who may have dash cam footage to get in touch by calling Blanchardstown Garda station on 01 666 7000, the Garda confidential line on 1800 666 111, or by contacting any Garda station.
