A man has been found dead this morning in a car on the M1.
It has been reported that he died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds.
According to RTE, An investigation is under way after the body was found in a burning car at Walshestown, Co Dublin.
Gardaí are treating the man's death as murder.
The Gardaí responded to reports of a burning car shortly before midnight, and when they arrived at the scene they discovered the body inside the vehicle.
The scene has been preserved and a forensic examination is expected to be carried out later today.
It is suspected that the man's death is connected to organised crime and detectives are looking at the possibility it could be connected to the ongoing criminal feuds in Dublin and Drogheda.
Balbriggan Garda Station is appealing for witnesses at this time.
