The incident occurred on the first night of the festival.
Gardaí are investigating an assault that occurred at this year's Electric Picnic festival which took place in Stradbally in Laois last weekend.
In a statement to JOE.ie, a Garda spokesperson said the incident occurred at the event between 11.30pm on Friday, 2 September and 12.30am on Saturday, 3 September.
One man was assaulted and attended Tullamore Hospital in Offaly to be treated for his injuries, before later being transferred to St James' Hospital in Dublin.
The spokesperson said investigations into the assault are ongoing.
