The doctor who was forcibly removed from a United Airlines flight has broken his silence.

Dr David Dao, a 69-year-old doctor, was the subject of a viral video this week after he was pulled from a plane by security after objecting to leave.

The flight from Chicago to Louisville was overbooked and after the airline failed to get volunteers to give up their seats they asked David to leave the plane.

A video surfaced of two security guards pulling him from his seat and injuring him in the process. Since the incident, the CEO of United Airlines has released a statement apologising to Dr Dao and all the passengers on the plane.

According to WLKY, Dr Dao is still recovering in hospital after the ordeal and has now released his own statement.

It was released through the family’s attorney Stephen Golan:

“The family of Dr. Dao wants the world to know that they are very appreciative of the outpouring of prayers, concern and support they have received. Currently, they are focused only on Dr. Dao’s medical care and treatment.”
