A man has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of an 11 year old boy in the south of the country.
The 28 year old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, stabbed the boy to death over one year ago. He later said he stabbed the boy 27 times because a voice in his head "told him to."
RTÉ News reports that the man was sentenced to life in prison following a hearing today.
In a victim impact statement, the boy's mother asked that her son be remembered as a "kind and loving" child.
She added that her son trusted the man, but that he was killed by "a hand of evil, an act of evil."
