Gardai investigating the death of a man in Tipperary have now upgraded the case to a murder investigation.
The man has been named locally as 47-year-old Pavel Javorsky, a Czech national, who had been living in Carrick-on-Suir for a number of years.
The case has been upgraded to a murder investigation following the receipt of postmortem results yesterday (Sunday October 5) though these results have not been released publicly.
Javorsky died following an incident at a house in Carrick-on-Suir on Saturday night, reports The Irish Times.
He was found unresponsive by Gardai who responded to a call at 11.30pm on Saturday.
Though paramedics rushed to the scene they were unable to resuscitate him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body was removed on Sunday afternoon for a preliminary examination before being taken to University Hospital Waterford for a postmortem.
Detectives are questioning a 24-year-old woman who is also from the Czech Republic.
The woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assaulting Javorsky. She has been detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
This murder is the second in Carrick-on-Suir in two months.
On August 2nd, Ian Walsh, 49, was stabbed to death in the town.
