Tragic news.

A mayo woman has died after a flight home with her boyfriend from South Africa.

Majella Donoghue from Belmullet suddenly became ill last Sunday on the way back from South Africa with her new fiance.

The couple had recently gotten engaged.

Ms Donoghue suddenly became seriously ill on the flight from Capetown to London Heathrow and her fiance and flight staff tended to her. When the plane touched down an ambulance was waiting to take her to hospital.

The 30-year-old died later in hospital with her fiance by her side, as well as a family member who had travelled over from Ireland.

According to the Irish Times, an autopsy has been carried out but the results are not yet available. Her remains are still in London.

Ms Donoghue worked as a “talent aquisition specialist” at Galway city-based firm, Boston Scientific.
