Mel Gibson has become a dad for the ninth time

Mel Gibson and Rosalind Ross have welcomed a baby boy.

The Oscar-winning actor-director and his equestrian champion girlfriend Rosalind Ross welcomed their son, Lars Gerard Gibson, last Friday. Little Lars weighed in at just over five pounds and is Mel’s seventh son.

Gibson has seven children from his first marriage to Australian actress Robyn Moore – Hannah (36), twins Christian and Edward (34), William (31), Louis (28), Milo (26) and Thomas (17). Moore and Gibson divorced in 2011.

The actor, who is known to have strong Catholic beliefs, also has a 7-year-old daughter, Lucia, with his ex-partner Oksana Grigorieva. Mel’s affair with the Russian singer, and the announcement of her pregnancy in 2009, was reported to have been the major cause of the breakdown of his thirty-year marriage to Moore.

After shelling out $425 million to Robyn in his divorce settlement and being court-ordered to pay $20,000 a month in child support plus $750,000 in installments to Oksana, we can only hope Mel has enough cash left to stick an extension on to the house – he’s going to need the bedrooms.
