Met Éireann has released another update on Storm Callum and it's relatively good news.

The national forecaster's official website features a 'forecaster's commentary' section and this evening two meteorologists have shared their predictions for the upcoming storm. Meteorologists Siobhán Ryan and Sandra Spillane say:

"Met Éireann has named Storm Callum. Severe Orange and Yellow Wind Warnings apply for Thursday night and Friday. Note, the Severe Orange Warning has just recently been extended in time out to 18:00 on Friday for coastal areas of Donegal, Sligo, Mayo, Galway and Clare. Further warnings were being considered later Friday across parts of the south and east, with the risk for another swathe winds and rain. However, the severity and likelihood of these secondary event appears to have diminished considerably. This event is predominantly expected to be a coastal one, though the severe winds will extend to inland parts, especially overnight and very early on Friday morning"

Following on from an earlier warning issue, Met Éireann has extended the five-county status orange wind weather warning from 1 pm to 5 pm tomorrow evening. This applies to Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Sligo and Clare and the warning kicks in tonight at 11 pm. Cork, Kerry, Dublin, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Meath and Waterford have also been given a status orange weather warning but for these counties, it ends at 9 am tomorrow morning.

For Cork and Kerry, the warning kicks in at 10 pm tonight and for Dublin, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Meath and Waterford, the warning is in place from midnight. There's also a yellow weather warning in place for the following counties - Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim, Roscommon, Limerick and Tipperary. It kicks in at midnight and is in place until 9 am tomorrow morning. However, these warnings may be updated this evening and the night so it's wise to check in with Met Éireann again.
