Met Éireann have issued three new weather warnings for Storm Dennis

Met Éireann have issued three new weather warnings as Storm Dennis hits Ireland.

One of the warnings comes into effect tonight [February 15], while the other two come into effect tomorrow [February 16]. Three more weather warnings remain in place for Saturday.

There’s a status yellow wind warning for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick, which begins at 8pm on Saturday night. It will remain in place until 10am on Sunday.

The forecaster have predicted that southwest winds with mean speeds of 50 to 65km/h will gust up to 110km/h, strongest on hills and coasts with the risk of coastal flooding.

There’s another status yellow wind warning for Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Roscommon, Tipperary and Waterford. It comes into effect at 10am on Sunday and lasts until 10pm the same day.

Met Éireann have said there will be southwest winds with mean speeds of 50 to 65km/h, gusting 90 to 100km/h. The winds will be stronger on exposed hills and coasts, with the slight risk of coastal flooding.

The third fresh weather warning is a status orange wind warning for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick. It comes into effect at 10am on Sunday and lasts until 10pm the same day.

There will be southwest winds with mean speeds of 60 to 80 km/h with severe gusts of up to 120km/h. Met Éireann have said they will be strongest on exposed hills and coasts, with a risk of coastal flooding.

In addition to this, an orange wind warning for Wexford and Waterford remains in place until 8pm tonight; a status yellow wind warning for all of Ireland remains in place until 8pm tonight and a status yellow rainfall warning for all of Ireland remains in place until 9pm tonight.
