Met Éireann issue snow and ice warning for 13 counties

It’s about to get frosty.

Met Éireann has issued a snow and ice weather warning for 13 counties.

The status yellow warning, which comes into effect at midnight, will remain in place until 12pm tomorrow, Wednesday.

The counties affected are Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Wexford, Wicklow, Offaly, Donegal, Leitrim, Sligo, Cork, Tipperary and Waterford.

A similar weather warning is also in place for five counties in the North of Ireland.

The UK Met Office today issued a status yellow snow and ice warning for Antrim, Armagh, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry. The warning is in place from 3pm today (Tuesday) until 11.59pm tomorrow (Wednesday).

Met Éireann said: “Rain, sleet and snow across the southern half of the country will clear southeastwards during the day with bright spells and scattered wintry showers following from the northwest.”
