A weather warning is now in place for the entire country

It's -4 in parts of the country this morning.

A status yellow snow ice warning is in place for all of Ireland until 9 pm this evening with widespread severe frost expected nationwide. This will lead to icy conditions on any untreated surfaces and there's also the possibility of snow showers.

Temperatures are freezing all over Ireland this morning as you'll see from the below tweet shared by Met Éireann, and drivers are urged to take extra care on the roads.

Frost and ice will continue for the day, particularly as you head north. Although temperatures may rise to between three and five degrees in the south, it will not exceed one or two degrees in the northern half of the country. The situation is expected to improve tomorrow with a "cold and bright day" forecast. There may be scattered showers and blustery winds for the west. Temperatures will rise slightly with four to six degrees expected and the milder weather is likely to continue into Saturday. Take heed of AA's warning this morning folks and allow time to de-ice your car.
