A weather warning is in place for three counties.

Met Éireann has put a heavy rainfall warning in place for Donegal, Galway and Sligo.

Heavy and ‘persistent’ rain is expected overnight and into tomorrow morning with predictions of “rainfall amounts of 25-50mm”.

The warning was issued at 11 am this morning and it’s in place from 6 pm tonight to 6 pm tomorrow night, not ideal if you’re commuting in the morning.

Spot flooding may occur in the aforementioned locations so it’s wise to be prepared if you’re planning to drive.

The national forecaster has also warned that there may be higher amounts of rain in mountainous regions.

Elsewhere, Met Éireann predicts that it will be “rather blustery tonight with rain across much of Ulster and Connacht, with persistent and heavy falls particularly across coastal areas”.

Tomorrow will start out cloudy but there will be dry weather in most areas.

Connacht and west Ulster will continue to get the worst of the rain though “slow-moving band of rain will affect much of Connacht and west Ulster”.
