Two counties are included in the latest weather warning from Met Éireann.

The Status Orange warning relates to Donegal and Cavan coming into effect at 1 am tonight. Areas of high ground and coastal regions in the aforementioned counties are likely to experience extreme winds and there is a risk of coastal damage. The warning from the national forecaster reads: "This warning pertains to coastal regions and high ground in these areas: Southwest winds will reach mean speeds of 65 to 80km/h with gusts of 110 to 130km/h overnight and early tomorrow. There is also a risk of coastal damage on exposed northwest coasts due to a combination of winds, high spring tides and high storm surge".

The warning, which includes two counties, comes into effect at 1 am tonight and is in place until 8 pm tomorrow night. An orange weather warning means that people should "be prepared". in the event of an orange weather warning, " weather conditions have the capacity to impact significantly on people in the affected areas. The issue of an orange level weather warning implies that all recipients in the affected areas should prepare themselves in an appropriate way for the anticipated conditions".
