Rain, rain, rain…

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rainfall warning for four counties.

The warning was issued at 12pm on Thursday and is valid from 3pm on Friday until 3pm on Saturday.

Galway, Mayo, Sligo and Donegal are all affected by the warning.

Met Éireann has said heavy rain with accumulations of between 40-55mm are expected with localised flooding.

At the coast, high seas and strong to gale force southerly winds will combine to give a risk of coastal flooding.

While Thursday is promised to be mainly dry and calm, on Friday rain will push into Connacht, Ulster and north Leinster throughout the day, but rain will be patchier in the south.

It will be windy and wet overnight on Friday with the rain turning persistent and heavy at times along Atlantic coasts.

Saturday will start off dry but heavy and persistent rain will spread across the country in the morning but eventually clearing to showers later in the afternoon.
