Met Eireann Issues ‘Status Orange’ Warning Ahead Of Thunderstorms

Met Eireann has issued a ‘status orange’ warning for several parts of the country, with thunderstorms expected to roll in later tonight.

The warning relates to parts of Munster, Leinster, Connacht, Donegal, Monaghan and Cavan and is predicted to “impact significantly on people in the affected areas”.

“Most of the showers will be over Connacht and Ulster, with some thundery downpours and local spot flooding,” said the national forecaster.

“The showers will become scattered for a time tonight, but they will become widespread over eastern and southern areas again later, with some heavy and thundery bursts of rain in places.”
