There will be some localised flooding.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rain and thunderstorm warning for 22 counties.

Issued at 1.30pm on Thursday, it is valid from then until 9pm and applies to the provinces of Leinster and Connacht as well as counties Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Tipperary and Waterford.

The warning states that heavy, potentially thundery downpours will break out this afternoon and evening throughout Ireland.

Met Éireann also said the conditions will produce some localised flooding.

As for the rest of the week, the forecaster has it will be mostly cloudy on Friday with scattered showers, some of which may turn heavy in east Ulster and north Leinster during the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will range from 16 to 20 degrees.

Saturday is set to feel fresher with a mix of sunny spells and just well scattered patchy showers mostly over Ulster and Atlantic coastal counties with temperatures between 16 to 20 degrees.

There should be sunny spells on Sunday. However, Met Éireann has said clouds will increase at times during the day bringing the chance of patchy mist and drizzle at times.

According to the forecaster, it will feel autumnal with temperatures ranging from 15 to 19 degrees.
