Met Eireann pinpoint arrival of 20C heat with just one region missing out
Met Eireann has pinpointed the arrival of stunning 20C heat this weekend as most of the country is set to bask in sunshine.
The west of Ireland is due to miss out on the blast of summer, with forecasters expecting cloudier skies and lower temperatures.
On Saturday, things will begin with a bit of drizzle but the sunshine will arrive later in the day bringing higher temperatures of 19C to 20C.
In the run up to the welcome change in conditions, meteorologists have said: “Tonight will be dry with some clear spells. Cloud will increase in the west and northwest later, bringing patches of drizzle towards morning.
“Lowest temperatures of 4 to 9 degrees in light to moderate south to southwest or variable breezes.”
On Thursday, things will be dull along the west coast in the morning with outbreaks of rain or drizzle, but things will become dry and bright here later in the afternoon.
As for the rest of the country, “it will be dry to start with some bright spells, but patchy rain will spread from the west during the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees with light to moderate southwest to west breezes.”
Heading into the weekend, Friday will be “Mostly dry with isolated showers. A good deal of cloud around with just occasional sunshine. Highs of 15 to 19 degrees with light northwest breezes.”
Saturday will bring a blast of heat, followed on Sunday by rather cloudy conditions with scattered outbreaks of rain or drizzle.
This will mainly affect west and northwest areas with brighter weather elsewhere and the odd shower.
