Met Éireann warn of snow for Easter weekend, as temperatures reach 19 degrees today

Totally normal weather event, yes.

Met Éireann has warned that despite temperatures set to reach 19 degrees in some parts of the country today, we could also be expecting it to snow over the Easter weekend.

While this week has seen glorious highs of 18 degrees in Dublin and the surrounding Leinster area, the south west of the country could see temperatures soar as high as 19 degrees later today.

Temperatures around the rest of the country will range from 10 to 19 degrees for a mostly dry day with some fog and sunny spells. But the rest of the weekend unfortunately isn’t looking as mild.

According to Met Éireann, some parts of the country can expect snowfall on Easter Sunday. The day will kick off mild enough, before outbreaks of rain, hail, and even snow are expected to fall in Ulster.

“Overnight most areas will become dry and clear, but wintry showers will persist in the north and northwest,” said Met Éireann. “Lowest temperatures of -2 to +2 degrees with fresh to strong and gusty northerly winds.”

Easter Monday is set to be more of the same, cold and breezy with sunny spells and scattered wintry showers mainly over the northern half of the country.

Who can say for sure when the sunny days of yesteryear (earlier this week) will return to us. We can only hope that they make an appearance again soon.
