“I share the concerns of other EU partners”

Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Charlie Flanagan has stated that he “shares the concerns of other EU partners” following the recent executive orders that were approved by President Trump.

“While US immigration policy is a matter of fact for the US authorities, it is clear that the most recent decisions could have far reaching implications – both on humanitarian grounds and on relations between the US and the global Muslim community” he said.

He added that the Irish embassies and Consulates “remain in active and ongoing contact with Irish immigration centers throughout the US” and that the Irish authorities will “continue to monitor developments.”

Minister Flanagan also confirmed that he will be Washington DC next week to discuss the issue further.
