The Australian model is caught up in a corruption scandal involving the Malaysian Government.

Miranda Kerr was gifted jewellery worth over $8.1million by former boyfriend Jho Low, a Malaysian financier at the heart of the scandal. According to the Guardian, over $4.5billion has been stolen from a Malaysian state fund, 1MDB, which was set up by the prime minister, Najib Razak. The prime minister has denied any wrongdoing.

Kerr has now handed the jewellery over to the US Justice Department after prosecutors said the items were bought for her with stolen government money. Kerr was gifted the jewellery in 2014 by Low.

It’s not just Miranda Kerr… Leonardo DiCaprio has also handed over $3.2million worth of artwork, including a Picasso painting, gifted to him by Jho Low.

No charges have been brought against the parties involved and Kerr and DiCaprio have not been accused of any crime.
