Rudy Farias: Teen missing for 8 years was reportedly hidden by his mother

New details have emerged surrounding the case of missing teen Rudy Farias after he was found alive last week.

The now 25-year-old was first reported missing in Houston in 2015 at the age of 17 and was discovered unconscious outside a church in extremely poor health.

Following a report on Wednesday where Rudy’s neighbours revealed they often saw him and hung out with him over the eight years he was missing, and were unaware he had been reported missing, further details of what happened have emerged.

According to KPRC, Rudy and his mother spoke with Houston police investigators and local activist Quanell X at a hotel on Wednesday.

Following a private conversation between Quanell and an investigator and Rudy, the activist claimed Rudy opened up about being “hidden” away for years by his mum.

“I heard horrific things from that young man and I did not want him to see me start shedding tears, but I couldn’t hold back the tears because of the things he was saying to us, the detective and myself,” Quanell said. “No child, no child should ever be treated like that by your own mother.”

Quanell also told investigators that Rudy would regularly go to work with his mum and carry out her tasks there for her.

“This young man said that when he initially ran away, he came back two days later and she told him that he had to hide, that he was going to get in trouble and they were going to arrest him for running away, and that he had to continue hiding,” Quanell told media.

“So she hid him out for a while then brought him back to the house and hid him in the home, initially, and whenever the investigators would come she would hide him in the house.”

While he refused to speak while his mum was in the room, he spoke more freely when on his own and told investigators that he was allowed to visit his neighbours once he used an alias.

A press conference is due to take place today to share more details surrounding the case.
