Missing teenager in Carlow found safe but search still on for sister

Gardaí are appealing for information.

After a search was underway for two missing teenagers from Carlow this week, one sister has been located safely while the search continues for the other.

Helen and Melissa McDonnell, aged 15 years and 14 years were reported missing rom their home on Killeshin Road, Carlow on Sunday morning.

The older of the two, Helen, has since been found “safe and well” while Gardaí continue the search for Melissa and are concerned for her safety.

Melissa is 14 years old, of a slim build and 5ft 1in in height. She has brown hair, green eyes and it is unknown what she was wearing when she left home.

On Wednesday evening, a garda spokesperson said: “Helen McDonnell, 15 years, who had been missing from Killeshin Road, Carlow since Sunday, 1st May, 2022 has been located safe and well.

“Gardaí are continuing to seek the public’s assistance in tracing Melissa McDonnell, 14 years, who remains missing from Killeshin Road, Carlow since early Sunday morning, 1st May, 2022.

“Anyone with information on Melissa’s whereabouts is asked to contact Carlow Garda Station on (059) 9174300, the Garda Confidential Line 1 800 666 111 or any Garda station.”
