Plan ahead this week – you’re either going to need the brolly or sun cream judging by the weather forecast.

What would Irish summer weather be without heavy rain forecast, alongside sunny spells?

This week will begin dry and bright with sunny spells expected on Monday and Tuesday. Highs of 19 to 23 degrees are expected with the eastern half of the country experiencing the best of the weather.

Then on Tuesday night, it’s set to break. According to Met Eireann, the rain will continue into Wednesday morning but will clear by the afternoon in the east.

Connacht and Ulster will still be affected by rain in the afternoon and evening with the east and south remaining dry throughout the later part of the day. Highest temperatures in the afternoon will be between 16 to 18 degrees.

Thursday will be the same with the northern half of the country receiving most of the heavy rain. Temperatures will stay around the mid to late teens.

Early indications for Friday look like it’s going to be a dry sunny day with some outbursts of rain in the south of the country.
