Seven counties have been issued wind warnings.
Met Éireann has issued Status Yellow wind warnings to more counties, stating that power outages are “possible” over the weekend.
The first applies to Clare and Kerry and is valid from 3pm to 8pm on Sunday.
“Southerly winds veering westerly will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65km/h with gusts of 90 to 100km/h,” it reads.
“Some fallen trees and power outages are possible.”
The second alert is for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo and will come into effect from 3pm to 11pm on Sunday.
Also warning of possible fallen trees and power outages, it states that winds are set to be stronger in the four counties.
“Southerly winds veering westerly will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65km/h with gusts of 90 to 110km/h with stronger winds expected along coasts and on higher ground,” the warning says.

According to Met Éireann’s forecast, Sunday will be mostly cloudy with patchy rain and drizzle, which will turn persistent in the west later in the day.
It is set to become quite windy throughout the afternoon, especially in western and northwestern Atlantic coastal counties, with southerly winds increasing strong and gusty, reaching gale force along Atlantic coasts.
Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees are expected.
Looking ahead of the weekend, Met Éireann’s overview reads: “Some rain at times but most days will be mild for the time of year.
“More settled conditions will develop later next week.”
