Murder investigation begins into death of woman in Belfast

A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The PSNI have begun a murder investigation following the death of Hollie Thomson in west Belfast.

The 28-year-old was from the Greenan area of Belfast, and police were called to a property in the area following a report of her sudden death on Sunday morning.

As RTÉ reports, her death is now being treated as a murder, and the PSNI are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident. A post-mortem has been carried out on her body, and a 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Police are appealing to anyone who may have information about the incident to contact them.

Detective Inspector Michelle Grififn said: “We have arrested a 31-year-old male on suspicion of murder and being concerned in the supply of a Class A controlled drug.

“He is currently being questioned in the Serious Crime Suite at Musgrave Police Station in Belfast.

“I am appealing to anyone who believes they may have information which could assist detectives with their investigation to contact us at the Major Investigation Team at Ladas Drive Police Station on 101 quoting reference 626 of 11/09/22.”
