A national weather warning stays in place today as ‘severe frost’ is expected

SO cold

Olivia Hayes

Well, this doesn’t sound too great.

It’s bitterly cold out, and it doesn’t look to be getting any better today or tonight, as ‘severe frost’ is expected.

Met Éireann reports that we’re in for a mainly dry day, with a few showers (of course), but it will be tonight and this evening that will see the worst of it.

According to met.ie: “Today will be largely dry with just an isolated shower this morning. The afternoon will brighten up with sunny spells developing. Highest temperatures 3 to 6 degrees in moderate to fresh northeast winds.

“With clear skies and light variable winds temperatures will fall widely to minus 3 or minus 4 degrees tonight, locally to minus 5. There’ll be a widespread severe frost.”

The Status Yellow national weather warning for snow and ice is in effect, also.

Wrap up ladies, we’re in for a cold one.
