New Hope For Garth Gigs – Final Two Dates To Be Rescheduled?

A final decision is expected on the issue tomorrow.

Garth Brooks was probably the most talked about man in Ireland last week when it was announced that Dublin City Council had refused permission for the final two dates of his sellout concerts.

The concerts are due to take place on Friday July 25th, Saturday July 26th, Sunday July 27th and it is now thought that the final two dates, originally scheduled for Monday 28th and Tuesday 29th July, could be moved to Wednesday 30th and Thursday 31st July.

Mediator Kieran Mulvey is reportedly attempting to persuade Aiken Promotions to make a new licence application, according to the Irish Independent.

Rearranging the dates would give the people living in the vicinity of Croke Park a break in between the concerts. Mulvey’s proposal also states that Croke Park residents would be assured a year without concerts in 2015.

It is thought that Dublin City Council will hold a meeting on the issue today and residents of Croke Park are to protest outside the venue later today.

A conference is expected to take a place this morning where Dublin businesses will highlight the economic cost to the city if the concerts do not go ahead, and a final decision is expected on the issue tomorrow.
