As if it wasn’t sickening enough, rent has risen again in Dublin.

A report by Daft.ie shows that rent prices are again at an all time high in the city, rising by 12 percent since last year.

The average rent price per month is now €1,774.

Ronan Lyons, the author of the research says that the Government’s efforts are just simply not enough.

“There isn’t a single part of the country where rents are increasing at less than 4% a year, which is what the rent pressure zones are designed to do,” he said.

“It’s not clear to me that the system of Rent Pressure Zones is working and in fact it may be having the opposite effect.”
