North Carolina has been given a warning over its Trans Bathroom law

LGBTQ groups are deeming the law a human rights violation

Last month, the Governor of North Carolina Pat McRory signed a bill into law limiting access to bathrooms for transgender individuals.

So for example if you were assigned female at birth but identify as male, under this law you are forced to use the women’s bathroom.

This law caused outcry among the LGBTQ community and in America in general, with many performers including Bruce Springsteen cancelling concerts in the state.

It looks like the discrimination won’t continue for much longer, though, according to Reuters.

Federal authorities have contacted McRory via letter saying that North Carolina was: “engaging in a pattern or practice of discrimination against transgender state employees”.

Republican legislators in the state have deemed the call-out a “gross overreach” by the Obama administration.

Activist groups in North Caroline have welcomed the letter, saying:

“It is now clearer than ever that this discriminatory law violates civil rights protections and jeopardizes billions of dollars in federal funds for North Carolina”.
