Not again! There's another weather warning for the entire country

Just as we can finally say Storm Emma has left Irish shores, another weather warning comes along.

Yes, Met Éireann has issued a warning for the entire country as it's set to get extremely cold.

Freezing temperatures will set in overnight and the national forecaster has put a Low Temperature warning in place to account for this.

It was issued at 11 am and comes into operation at midnight tonight up until 8 am tomorrow.

Early predictions suggest temperatures could fall to -4 degrees overnight.

Met Éireann says:

"Lowest temperatures are expected to fall to between zero and -3 degrees generally, but may fall locally to -4 degrees with a widespread sharp frost".

The weekend is likely to improve somewhat with dry and bright spells likely on Friday afternoon through to the evening.

However, there is the risk of rain in Munster and Leinster with the "risk of heavy or thundery" bursts.

At the moment, both Saturday and Sunday are expected to be relatively dry although there will be occasional showers.

These are early predictions and the weather is subject to change. You can check out the forecast in full on the Met Éireann website here.
