An Offaly family is celebrating a major windfall this week, after buying their first ever Lotto ticket.
The syndicate, comprised of five family members, recently won €6 on the National Lottery and as it was too small an amount to divide, they decided to try the Euromillions for the first time.
The group from Birr struck gold and walked away with the €500,000 prize in the Euromillions Plus draw on Friday June 19th, travelling to Dublin to collect their cheque earlier today.
The golden slip was bought in an Applegreen Brosna Service Station in Birr and each member of the family will now walk away with a nice jackpot of €100,000 each.
