One Irish woman reckons Stephen Fry could help repeal the 8th too

Niamh Maher

We told you earlier this week about a pretty embarrasing situation for the nation.

An Garda Síochána confirmed that they were investigating Stephen Fry for blasphemy. The charges were in relation to comments made by Fry on the RTÉ show Meaning of Life in 2015.

The charges were quickly dropped, according to the Irish Independent, An Garda Síochána decided not to proceed with the investigation because they were “unable to find a substantial number of outraged people”.

Oh, Ireland.

Well now, one prominent Irish feminist reckons the English actor could help with the Repeal the 8th movement. Emer O’Toole first came to prominence back in 2012 when she stopped shaving her body hair and sang “get your pits out for the lads” to Eamonn Holmes. She’s now better known for her book Girls Will Be Girls which explores gender, feminism, and the struggles of being a woman.

She has no qualms about voicing her opinion on Twitter, and has appealed to Stephen Fry publicly to help with the movement;

Good woman Emer.
