A man has died after a 12 car pile-up on the M7 Dublin to Limerick road.
Horrific weather conditions last night resulted in a 'freak' hailstorm according to The Irish Mirror, causing the victim to lose control of his vehicle.
It's believed that his car came off the road near Ballyfinnan Newport, between the junctions for Birdhill and Castletroy.
The man, aged in his 50s, suffered terrible head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other injuries have been reported and the road, which was closed overnight, has been reopened following a technical examination.
