The incident happened on the line between Ballymena and Cullybacky.

The rail line was closed following the incident this morning.

Emergency services visited the scene of the incident after the person’s sudden death on the railway line.

According to Belfast Live, a spokesperson for Translink said the line closure would remain for some time.

“Due to an operating incident between Ballymena and Ballymoney the line is closed.

“Train services through these stations may be subject to disruption on all routes. Disruption is expected until further notice.”

Councillor for UUP for Ballymoney Daryl Wilson confirmed the news:

“There has been an incident on the railway line in the Ballymena area, PSNI, paramedics and NIFRS are at the scene, this has understandably had an impact on the rail service.

“If you were planning on taking the train today please contact Translink in advance as alternative arrangements may have to be made.”
