A shocking photo shows what appears to be one of the hostages on the hijacked EgyptAir flight posing for a selfie with the hijacker.

Seif Eldin Mustafa hijacked the EgyptAir passenger jet after taking off from Alexandria, forcing it to make an emergency landing in Cyprus’ Larnaca airport.

He took several passengers and crew hostage, including an Irishman, and demanded to see his Cypriot ex-wife.

The hijack came to an end shortly before 1pm when Mustafa was arrested by authorities.

Now, a photo depicting one of the apparent hostages grinning in a selfie with Mustafa, who can be seen wearing a suicide belt, has emerged.

Meanwhile, EgyptAir have confirmed that all hostages have been released:

‘Official sources at EgyptAir declared the release of all the hostages and the arrest of the hijacker.’

Speaking about Mustafa, an Egyptian Foreign Ministry official said: “He’s not a terrorist, he’s an idiot. Terrorists are crazy but they aren’t stupid. This guy is.”
