PICS – Fire Caused By A Phone Charger In Dublin Apartment Is Scary Stuff

You can't be too careful.

Everybody knows the rules of basic fire safety, closing all interior doors, testing your smoke alarms regularly and keeping an extinguisher and fire blanket at the house. It’s common sense.

There are some things however that we might sometimes overlook. These images tweeted by Dublin Fire Brigade today show the shocking aftermath of someone leaving their phone charging on their bed.

The charger overheated, causing extensive damage to the bed, duvet and walls. The springs are clearly visible, showing the severity of the fire.

Dublin Fire Brigade used this as an opportunity to warn people of the dangers of leaving their electronics lying on the bed in their homes.

Things like straighteners, hairdryers and laptop chargers can be incredibly dangerous if left on beds or sofas, and although duvets and quilts often undergo flammability tests, accidents like this can still occur.
