Police investigating after customer finds ‘human bone’ in Primark sock

Police have launched an investigation after a customer found part of a human bone in a pair of socks from Primark.

Essex authorities said that the bone, discovered last month, did “… not appear be a result of recent trauma and had no skin or other particles surrounding it.”

It was discovered in a sock bought in Primark’s Colchester store.

BBC reports that the retailer has apologised for “any distress caused.” They have also said that there is no evidence of “incident” in their factory.

“No evidence of any kind exists to suggest that any incident has occurred in the factory, so it is highly probable that this object was placed in the socks by an individual for unknown reasons,” a statement read.

“Primark has been the subject of isolated incidents in the past which have subsequently been found to have been hoaxes.”

Essex police said that the age or origin of the bone cannot be determined without further testing.

The investigation is ongoing.
