Police working to find missing woman Nicola Bulley have reiterated their belief that she fell into the river, and that she was not the victim of a crime.
The 45-year-old woman was last seen 11 days ago walking her dog in St Michael’s on Wyre in Lancashire. She had dropped her daughters off at school and was spotted alongside the river. She had emailed her boss and messaged some friends before logging into a Microsoft Teams meeting, where she was muted and her camera was off. She was spotted by another passer-by at 9:10am, before her phone was found on the bench at 9:33am. Her dog was also found, though Nicola had disappeared.
The past 11 days have seen a massive search effort for Nicola, and at a press conference last night, Supt. Sally Riley said that their investigation has led them to believe that the woman was not a victim of a crime.
She said: “I would like to reassure the community that nothing in this investigation so far, it has been checked out if it has come in suggesting crime, it has been checked and discounted.
“So every single potential third party line of inquiry and potential suspicious or criminal element has been looked at and discounted.”
She added: “It does remain our belief that Nicola sadly fell into the river and that this is a missing persons inquiry.”
Supt. Riley also asked the public to refrain from “distressing speculation”, as this will be upsetting for Nicola’s family.
