Police officer held over Sarah Everard disappearance arrested on murder suspicion

The police man held in connection with the disappearance of Sarah Everard was arrested on suspicion of murder.

London’s Met Police confirmed today that the man, in his 40s, has now been further arrested on suspicion of murder, as well as a separate allegation of indecent exposure.

The man, who is currently serving as a police office, was initially arrested last night in connection with the disappearance.

A woman in her 30s is also being held on suspicion of assisting an offender.

“Today, Wednesday, 10 March, he has been further arrested on suspicion of murder and a separate allegation of indecent exposure,” reads a statement.

“The man is a serving Metropolitan Police officer in the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command. His primary role was uniformed patrol duties of diplomatic premises.

“Officers are searching locations in London and Kent including a property in Deal and an area of woodland near Ashford.”

Everard, a 33-year-old marketing executive, went missing after leaving a friend’s home shortly after 9pm on 3 March.
